A 2-year-old boy who fell from the second floor of an Aurora mall on Sunday died early Monday morning, according to the Aurora Police Department.
Around 4 p.m. Sunday, the boy’s father was holding him in his arms at the top of an escalator at the Town Center of Aurora, police said. The child pushed forward, and the boy slipped from the father’s arms, falling to the first floor, police said.
Police are still investigating and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers.
Police have said that, at this point, they believe the fall was an accident.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the boy and his family at this time,” the Town Center of Aurora said in a news release. “We are working closely with the Aurora fire and police departments as they investigate the accident.”
The name of the young boy who died has not been released.
