TWO teens have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 16-year-old boy was knifed to death by a machete-wielding gang.

The victim was set upon in Harold Hill, East London, by balaclava thugs just minutes before a second teen, 15, was injured in another attack nearby.

He remains in hospital where he has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police confirmed a third boy, 17, was knifed and has also been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of affray has been bailed until June pending further enquiries.

The knife frenzy on Friday came just yards from where tragic girl scout Jodie Chesney was murdered two years ago.

Horrified witnesses said police told them a machete-wielding gang chased the victim from a nearby park.

They also described how they saw a teenager crying out "he died in my arms" close to the murder scene.

Elisabeth Honeysett, 60, a retired teacher, told The Sun: "There was a young boy crying. He was saying 'he died in my arms'."

One local, 44, said: "I went out to get something out of the car and saw all the commotion.

"The police were with a young lad covered in blood.

"He walked past and they sat him on the wall. He had blood on is hands and everything

"He was very distressed they were trying to comfort him."

Angela Finch, 48, a mum-of-two, said: "As we came out we could see someone pumping up and down on his chest.

"There was a black guy coming up here covered in blood, young guy.

"He was saying 'please keep them away from me'.

"He was shaking from head to toe. He had blood all over his face. He had it covered all over his trousers and his puffer jacket.

"I was cuddling him. He said to me, 'I saw him die, I saw him die'."

Another neighbour added: "He was in shock.

"The police told me they had balaclavas and machetes and were chasing him.

"He said it's one of the worst things he's ever seen.

"They came running out of the park, three of them, swinging machetes like mad."

Police were called to Church Road at 6.41pm following reports of a fight when they discovered the first victim suffering from a stab wound.

Tragically he couldn't be saved and was declared dead at the scene shortly after.

Around ten minutes after the first report, police were scrambled to nearby Retford Road where the 15-year-old was stabbed.

Local MP Julia Lopez slammed the 'senseless violence' and urged any witnesses to come forward.

She said: "I am very sorry to say that a teenage boy has lost his life in Harold Wood tonight.

"Another young man has been seriously injured. This is utterly senseless violence and I know we shall all be thinking of their families tonight."

Jodie Chesney was brutally murdered in the same park two years ago.

The 17-year-old girl scout collapsed and died in her boyfriend's arms from an 18cm deep knife wound in a gruesome case of mistaken identity.
