A ROAD has reportedly been "evacuated" after a "major incident" in North London as cop cars were seen rushing to the scene by witnesses.

Video shared on social media shows Edmonton police station cordoned off, after a car is believed to have crashed into the building.

The Metropolitan Police tweeted: "We're aware of an incident at Edmonton police station in Enfield."

Labour Councillor for Edmonton Green Ward, Ergin Erbil, tweeted that there are "reports of a major incident declared at Edmonton Green police station.

"If you’re in the Fore Street area stay safe and be careful."

One Twitter user warned that, "a car has smashed into a police station in Edmonton, London."

They added that there appeared to be a "security incident in Edmonton where a vehicle (a BMW apparently) has crashed into a police station.

"Citizens [are] advised to avoid the area.

"So far [it's] unclear if this is a crime, an accident or a terrorist incident. Also unclear if there are any casualties."

LBC News said that footage appeared to show a crashed car in the entrance of Edmonton Police Station, with a man setting a substance alight in the street.

The Sun Online has contacted the Met Police for comment.

In an update – via Twitter – the Met added at 8pm: "We are aware of speculation on social media regarding the ongoing incident in Edmonton.

"We will release facts when we can – our info must be accurate."
