Girl, 13, is found dead at bottom of cliffs near Devon holiday park where she was staying with family as police say death is not being treated as suspicious

A teenage girl has been found dead at the bottom of cliffs near a holiday park in Devon. 

Police were called to an incident at the Devon Cliffs Holiday Park in Exmouth on Friday.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed the body of the girl, 13, who was on holiday with her family, was found at the base of the cliffs at Sandy Bay.

The unnamed child’s next-of-kin have been informed and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

‘Devon and Cornwall Police attended a location in Exmouth after reports that a person was in difficulty,’ a police spokesperson said.

‘The body of a 13-year-old girl, who was on holiday with her family from out of the force area, was discovered at the base of the cliffs at Sandy Bay, Exmouth.

‘Her death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is being prepared for the coroner.’

Shocked social media users shared messages of tribute to the child.

‘So very tragic. My thoughts are with her family and friends and all involved. Taken too soon. Sleep tight x,’ one user wrote. 

‘This is so sad,’ another wrote.
