Donald Trump and Melania Trump recently tested positive for coronavirus. On Thursday evening President Trump tweeted: “Tonight, FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this together.”
TalkRADIO’s host Mike Graham and political commentator John Rentoul discussed the possible ways President Trump could benefit from this.
They noted that, if the President recovers quickly or has mild symptoms, he may be able to return to the campaign race claiming he has defeated COVID-19.
The pair agreed this would very much suit the President’s image and may potentially play into his support base.
Mr Graham said: “Donald Trump is in quite a high-risk category.

“But if he has a mild bout of coronavirus and he emerges from it, you can see him standing at the next debate with his fists in the air saying I beat coronavirus.
“He will be able to say it would have killed Joe Biden, if you know what I mean.”
Mr Rentoul agreed and went into greater detail of how President Trump could utilise his circumstances for future gain.
Mr Rentoul said: “Donald Trump and Melania Trump don’t have any symptoms at the moment.
“If he sails through it in the same way that some people seem to, although not Boris Johnson, then you could be right Mike.
“This will work in President Trump’s favour as he will come across as some kind of strongman.”
The radio host noted that this idea would fit Trump’s narrative.
But, Mr Rentoul also reflected on the possibilities of catching coronavirus hurting the President’s election chances.

“He is not going to be able to take part in the election campaign much except through video.
“We also remember those videos of Boris Johnson when he didn’t look very well but was trying to hide it and his cough.
“If that happens to Donald Trump then I think the effects will be very different.”
