Mark Dunphy went from sleeping in his car to winning over £5million and owning racehorses after an amazing run of luck.

The 56-year-old lost his job and home after he was hit by a truck at work.

But a football accumulator bet win of £15,000 kickstarted a gambling career that has netted £5million in two years.

Mark had been working on a toll bridge when the accident forced him to leave.

He ended up sleeping rough in his 10-year-old Mazda and used his last £200 wage slip to place the wager.

Mark continued to bet and win big and is now a successful racehorse owner.

He said: “I was on that toll bridge for 25 years. It was a job and paid my bills. But if I’d not been knocked down I’d still be there.

“I suffered internal bleeding and leg injuries, lots of stuff, so I was off work for nearly a year.

“I went back but wasn’t up to it. After about three months sleeping in my car, a friend put me up on his sofa.

“But the injuries made me focus and reset my life. I started to place bigger and bigger bets at the bookies.”

His lucky run was so profitable he’d pick up £1million winnings in cash.

Mark, of Evesham, Worcs, said: “My biggest bet was £3.5million on England to win at football.

“Those massive bets earned me free bets from bookmakers, I even bought my house with a free bet.”

Now he hopes his horse, Do Your Job, will do a job for him at the Aintree Grand National Festival this week.
