Former first lady Melania Trump is not interested in regaining the title, even though her husband Donald continues to tease his supporters with suggestions that he’ll run for the presidency again in 2024.

As in 2016, the former model has little interest in campaigning for the former president, according to CNN, preferring to leave that to other members of his family.

But the network’s Kate Bennett said that this time Melania didn’t even want her husband to win, as she doesn’t want to go back to the White House.

“Not unlike 2016, Melania Trump has no intention really of joining the campaign," Kate said.

“I've spoken to people who said that she's not even really interested in being in the White House again, going through being first lady again."

Although Donald Trump lost last year’s election to Joe Biden, he would be allowed to run again in 2024. The United States constitution allows presidents to serve two terms, so he would be able to have another four years in the Oval Office.

He has continued to drop hints to his supporters about his plans, with many of his followers clinging to some of the weird conspiracy theories surrounding last year’s election.

It’s thought that Trump himself subscribes to some of the bizarre theories, which have included claims that Italian satellites were used to steal the election, Venezuela somehow hacked the vote-counting machines, and the whole 2020 election will soon be declared void and he’ll be returned to office.

No evidence of widespread electoral fraud has been found, but Trump remains a darling for many across the country.

Melania has stayed out of the public eye since the Trumps left the White House in January.

“She’s retreated now back to Mar-a-Lago, being a mum,” Kate said.

“We know she's an extremely private person and that being in the public eye wasn't necessarily something she wanted to do in the first place.”

She was seen in public just once over the summer, when she was spotted leaving Trump Tower in New York City with her son, Barron.

According to Kate, one of her sources who was close to Melania during her four years in the White House said: “Being first lady again is not what she wants. For her, it was a chapter – and it's over, and that's that.”
