A former model who briefly dated Prince Harry in 2011, has said: "I feel lucky that the relationship was short-lived."

Florence St George, who went on to marry multimillionaire Henry St George a few years later, said: "I take my hat off to those people who can cope with that lifestyle, but I knew I couldn't.

The 36-year-old added that "although it was sad" when she split with the prince, says she now feels lucky their relationship was short-lived.

She told The Times: "When I glimpsed for five, six, seven days – we were together a bit longer than that but that's how long it was in the press – what it was like to be under that focus I found it really terrifying and I made a decision quite quickly that it wasn't the right thing for me."

She told Stella magazine that the clamour for news about her and Harry’s romance had made life impossible.

"A new story would appear almost every day in the press, my school friends were interrogated and there were photographers outside my front door.

"I take my hat off to those people who can cope with that lifestyle, but I knew I couldn't."

Florence had dated Formula One star Jenson Button before hooking up with Harry and said that media interest in her famous beaux had worsened mental health problems that she had lived with since her teens.

The mum-of-two later took up pottery as a means of calming her anxiety and coping with postnatal depression.

She went on to take part in Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down in 2019, and was relieved not to be treated just as "Harry’s Ex".

"They treated me as just another contestant," she said.

Florence is one of a long list of high-profile women that Harry dated before marrying Meghan Markle – including Love Islander Camilla Thurlow and Strictly and Saturdays star Mollie King.

The royal is known to have remained on good terms with most of them following their breakups.

However, a number of Harry's friends have since claimed they were forced to "cut ties" with him after he got together with Meghan.

TV personality Lizzie Cundy has claimed that Meghan tries to control Harry’s social circle.

"I just know from a few of his friends, he had side-lined a few of his mates," she said in 2019.

"Some of the friends have felt it down to her why they aren’t in the inner circle," she said.

"It might just be the drinking element and not going out as much. They are all saying it’s her influence. It might well be."

She added: "It’s a shame as Harry loved his friends. I do think it’s sad that some of his friends that I know have been pushed aside."
